Ivan Franko, noble widow and priest
Excursion.
In 1888, a crime took place in the village of Kukeziv near Lviv - an attack on an old Catholic priest, combined with attempted murder and robbery. At first glance, an ordinary criminal case gained a lot of public publicity when it was not village thieves, but representatives of a respectable noble family - the mother and son of Streletsky - who ended up on the dock.
Ivan Franko became interested in the case, and based on the motives of the case, he wrote the novel "Fundamentals of Society".
Were the Streletskys really guilty, or were they victims of a biased investigation and gossip? And why was Ivan Franko interested in the case?
